GrafTech International Holdings, Inc. is a global company with over 100 years of experience in the carbon and graphite industry. We manufacture and provide high-quality natural and synthetic graphite and carbon products and services. Our Columbia, Tennessee facility has an immediate opening for a Lean Technician. The primary function of this position will be to Provide technical, administrative, and low level maintenance help for GrafTech’s LEAN / Continuous Improvement efforts.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead and assist during Kaizen events within the plant.
- Support Lean events including work prior to, during, and after events.
- Support Lean projects including trials and installation.
- Develop training materials, templates, and exercises.
- Teach LEAN Basics training courses to plant associates.
- Work with operators on process improvements and train operators on routine preventative maintenance.
- Update Go-Forward plans and Project Database as required.
- Assist in maintaining LEAN KPI’s and savings from kaizen events.
- Develop communications: Production Boards, SQDC Boards, Gemba Boards, Kaizen Report Out, Kaizen Digest, LEAN Newspaper, Value Stream Maps, training matrices.
- Assist and coach area owners of production boards and SQDC boards on MDI tools and techniques.
- Attend daily Gemba walk to production boards and weekly SQDC walks.
- Participate in bi-weekly lean conference call.
- Participate on Lean Steering Committee.
- Perform light duty maintenance activities such as cleaning, painting lines on floor, hanging visual boards, creating storage systems, etc…
- Support general plant maintenance.
- Organize LEAN supplies and establish inventory system with re-order points.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical maintenance experience desired.
- LEAN Manufacturing experience required.
- High school diploma required.
- LEAN Manufacturing experience/certifications preferred.
- Computer skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
- Comfortable working in a team environment on a regular basis.
- Facilitation and training ability required.
- Strong Communication skills required.
