This position will focus on the development of novel carbon-carbon composites for a variety of applications. The focus will be on graphite for next generation applications in solar, semiconductor, energy, and transportation applications. The candidate will deliver materials solutions to customer needs by developing new materials and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Define the processes to make novel carbon-carbon composite materials
  • Develop new materials in collaboration with product management and marketing functions 
  • Scale up new materials from lab to production 
  • Implement new processes in collaboration with production personnel in heavy industrial production areas 
  • Relate process changes to material structure and properties 
  • Create and update best practices for the worldwide organization in the process area 
  • Conduct audits of best practices in the manufacturing plants 
  • Create and present technical reports as required 
  • Domestic and international travel are required

Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, or Ceramics Engineering
  • Experience with carbon-carbon composites 
  • Experience writing technical reports and presentations
